Subject: [DRGW] [SG] Cabooses - how late did they run

So there's been a lot of questions on here over the years about when cabooses stopped running on mainline freights on the DRGW. The usual answer is late 1985, and while that's probably true from a _rules_ perspective, it's not an absolute. I was tooling around on the trainweb.org/railblazer site today and was pretty surprised to see how many were still running on trains clear thru the end of 1988.

So: if you're modeling the 1980s, you have plenty of justification for keeping a few cabeese on trains up thru that point in time, at the least.

Incidentally, I saw solid orange and also 1-stripe schemes represented in Mike's photos.

BTW-- calling Mike Bateman, if you're still on this group, I have to talk to you about something. Please contact me off list. Thanks,

-Jim Griffin
