SL&RG - Permian Basin / Iowa Pacific Roster (2005-...)

Initially after the acquisition of the SLRG from RailAmerica by Permian Basin / Iowa Pacific, the Helm leasers were kept on. As time went on, those units were replaced by the short-term GP39-2 leasers, and then finally by the F40M-2F units. In late 2006/early 2007, three of the four F40s left the roster, and the railroad appears to be standardizing on ex-LMX GE B39-8E units.

Note: Three more F40 hulks were purchased for conversion to SLRG road slugs later in 2006. These units are supposed to be: CDAC/MMA 462 (ex-Amtrak 362), ex-MMA/Amtrak 260, and ex-MMA/Amtrak 263.

Note: Four more units are apparently underway to the SLRG as of 1-May-2006. FP10s 1100 and 1114 have been acquired (presumably leased) for passenger service. These are ex-MBTA units, rebuilt by Paducah from GM&O F3A units 805A and 811A respectively. Railfan & Railroad also reports acquisition of GP8 HLCX 852 (currently on the Texas & New Mexico) and GP38 HLCX 3635.

Note: The F40M-2Fs will be converted to extended range dynamic braking to better deal with the slow speeds and steep grades of La Veta Pass, per Carlos Llamas.
